This organic drop pendant has been hand carved in newspaper, it is made by recycling the waste product of today’s news & transforming it into a beautiful design that you will love to wear well into the future. You might think that the necklace has been made from stone or ceramic from a distance – yet it is warm, light and full of colour from the original printing inks. This predominantly red pendant mingles different shades of grey on the front while the back mixes green, purple and blue with the grey and red. Around the edge is a single red stripe.
Pendant size: 5cm x 3cm
Chain: 18″ sterling silver
• I start by glueing sheets of newspaper together, just a few at a time, until I have a hard block of paper at the thickness I require.
• Once the block is bone dry, I attack it with my crafting knives and sanders! This shapes the piece and also reveals the colourful inks printed on the paper – which further makes each piece of jewellery unique.
• Next I varnish each piece to strengthen the material and highlight the colours.
