Decorative carved block pot/vase – This organically formed pot is made out of layers of recycled newspaper that have been slowly built up, over a foam medium, and dried before being carved and sanded to reveal a beautiful undulating and tactile surface, full of colour . The printing inks produce an intricate and unique organic design over the surface which is totally unique to each piece, while beneath the glass liner the truth of its origins can be seen in the untouched newspaper print. This home accessory will promote conversation as people try to guess the material and then marvel at the answer. Recycling today’s waste newspaper to make unique decorative products to be admired for years to come.

Chip Paper Designs –
I like to revamp, re-purpose and recycle everyday objects, scouring second hand stores for dusty, unloved items that I can decorate with recycled newspaper – giving them a new chance at life. I mainly use picture frames, mirrors and vases but have been known to tackle dressing tables and chests of draws. I started experimenting with recycling newspaper when I was invited to exhibit in an exhibition all about the ’Message’, as newspapers have been a worldwide method of spreading the word throughout history. I love covering items with newspaper and then carving and sanding the surface, exposing the colours in the print and highlighting its stone like qualities, which further enhance the uniqueness of each piece. I then varnish them to strengthen the material and highlight the colours. Ever piece is a one off design and cannot be reproduced.
